Summer Learning Resources

The National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) is a national, non-profit organization focused on the powerful impact of one achievable goal: investing in summer learning to help close the achievement gap.

The 2020 Summer Learning Toolkit from NC Early Childhood Foundation is a great resource for summer program providers!
The easy to use tools can help program staff understand the importance of summer learning, so that they can communicate effectively with parents.

Kids Read Now partners with schools and school districts to close the achievement gap by providing a proven summer reading program. Beginning in mid-May 2020, K-3 students in the following schools began receiving student-selected books mailed to their homes for reading throughout the summer: Bethel, ECU Community School, Falkland, Grifton, G.R. Whitfield, Northwest, South Greenville, and Wahl-Coates.
