Children, families, and special community guests gathered on Friday, Feb. 1 from 3:30-5:30pm in the Sheppard Memorial Children’s Library to celebrate World Ready Aloud Day. This year marks the 10th anniversary of World Read Aloud Day when readers across the globe read and share books together on this one special day. Special thanks go to Guest Readers Eric Griffin (Greenville Fire & Rescue Chief), Michael Bonner (S. Greenville Teacher), P.J. Connelly (Greenville Mayor), Alan Bailey (Joyner Library TRC Director), Heidi Serrano (MPPFC Bilingual Parent Educator), Eric Holtzman (Greenville Police Chief), Veronica Roberson (Winterville Town Councilwoman), Rick Smiley (Greenville Town Councilman), and Greg Needham, Amber Winstead, Phyllis Conner, and Kristin Hill (Sheppard Memorial Library). While readers shared much loved children’s books, special activities planned by SML Children’s Librarians made the event even more fun! In addition to celebrating many wonderful books, children and families renewed library cards and some applied for the first time. We look forward to making this an annual celebration in years to come!
